East Lancashire Hospitals – Surgical Triage Unit

The East Lancashire Surgical Triage Unit were seeing changes in both the demand of patients attending the STU and the delivery of surgical care.

The Challenge

The reduction in the availability of doctors and the incorporation of other surgical specialities into the Surgical Triage Unit (STU) meant STU was struggling to ensure it could deliver high quality patient care.

The WRaPT team was tasked with developing a new model of care and in turn workforce model to improve the delivery of care for patients.
